Early Times Report
Jammu, May 24: University of Jammu (JU) has become a den of corruption coupled with nepotism and favoritism as the Vice Chancellor is driving the varsity with his own whims and fancies just to serve his own cause as well as the cause of his blue-eyed.
According to highly placed sources, recent in this series is posting of tainted Assistant Registrar Khem Pal Singh Sambyal (KPS) as Incharge of Law Section. Notably, this tainted officer is also holding the lucrative position of Assistant Registrar in Colleges Development Council (CDC) with the blessings of his godfather (Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma).
Sources disclosed that varsity administration removed him from the position of Incharge Transport Section owing to taint of abusing his position. "The Vice Chancellor removed Khem Pal Singh from transport section with heavy heart because of exposure of latter's misdeeds in media. But, instead of sidelining him with charge of some ordinary nature he was rewarded with posting in Colleges Development Council and later additional charge of Incharge Law Section," they added.
A senior administrator disclosed that Khem Pal Singh was earning handsomely on the position of Assistant Registrar in Colleges Development Council in the shape of remuneration for inspection of various affiliated colleges and now he is also the incharge of Law Section which only adds to stature of tainted officer with the blessings of Vice Chancellor.
"The person (Assistant Registrar) who was earlier taking care of Law Section was a Law Graduate and command over the subject but he was removed and succeeded by Khem Pal Singh as he enjoys patronage of Vice Chancellor and least worried about his taint," the senior administrator further said.
Reliable sources revealed that Khem Pal Singh have been made Incharge of Law Section just to serve the vested interest of Vice Chancellor as the former was making recommendation on various legal issues as per dictats of Vice Chancellor. "The Vice Chancellor has misused the Legal Section in connivance of Incharge Law Section to give undue benefit to his other blue-eyed officials/teachers through favourable comments besides harassing others who didn't toe his line by making negative comments. The Vice Chancellor is taking the service of need based Legal Counsel instead of Standing Counsel," he added.
