Kashmiri migrant relief holders stage protest
6/8/2018 10:56:21 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 8: Kashmiri migrant relief holders and over aged youth held a massive demonstration in front of Relief Commissioner Office here today in protest against the silence maintained by Central and State Governments in mitigating the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandits leading an exiled life in their own country for the last 28 years now.
Coming down heavily on the stoic silence maintained by Central as well as State Government on mitigating their problems the leaders of relief holders said that callous stance taken by the authorities, who are at the helm of affairs has multiplied the sufferings and miseries of migrant relief holders and over aged youths and has forced their to come on roads.
"It gives us an idea how sincere Governments in the State as well as Center are sincere in mitigating our problems," they said. The stagnant cash assistance being provided to the relief holders, for last three years speaks the volumes of inhumane approach of the Govts towards the relief holders and over aged youths for keeping their survival chances alive, they said. They appealed to the Central and State Government to expedite the enhancement of cash assistance and compensation for loss of 27 years to over aged youths and show humantic approach towards them.
They urged the Govt. to show the will in responding to the problems being faced by the relief holders and over aged youths. Any concrete step in this direction can be a small confidence building measure.
Relief holders demanded immediate enhancement in cash assistance to the tune of Rs. 300 per day per person and also Rs.50 lakh per family for the loss of 27 years in exile.
