Seven day long Baba Sidh Goria Mela commences at Swankha

SAMBA, June 24: A Seven days long Annual Mela Baba Sidh Goria commenced with religious fervor and gaiety at Baba Sidh Goria Ji shrine situated at Village Swankha near Vijaypur in Samba district Samba on Sunday.
According to the report, Thousands of devotees started pouring in the premises of the temple since the morning waiting for their turn to pay obeisance. People also took a customary dip in the pond situated near shrine, which is believed to have curative powers and then offer prayers at the temple. The temple of Baba Sidh Goria fully decorated with flowers and lightning.
The Shrine of Baba Sidh Goria is prominently known in the State and the devotees from different parts of the State and outside throng every year in the month of June-July and the Mela goes on for seven days. Every year people come in large numbers to pay obeisance at the shrine and take bath in holy 'Sarover' which is believed to be having healing and spiritual powers. The District administration had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mela like uninterrupted power, safe drinking water, sanitation, Medicare and security.
Mahant Girdhari Lal said that it is popularly known that the shrine that of Baba Sidh Goria Nath ji, a follower of Gorakh Nath. The water of the holy Sarovar (pond) is considered as pious as Ganga Jal and is believed to have curative properties. Baba Sidh Goria shrine has great significance among devotees and people from state as well as from other parts of country as they paid their obeisance during the mela.
MLA Vijaypur Chander Prakash Ganga, Ravinder Raina BJP President, MP Jugal Kishore Shrama, Former Minister, Surjeet Singh Slathia, Senior Congress leader, Manjeet Singh and other senior officials also visited the shrine and paid obeisance to Baba Sidha Goria for peace and prosperity of the country.
