IIPA organizes lecture on "Roadmap for Jammu Smart City"

Jammu, July 8: Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) J&K Regional Branch today organized a lecture on "Roadmap for Jammu Smart City". It was attended by IIPA members, officers of JMC, JDA, Town Planning Organization, PWD, PHE and other departments. Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Jammu was the key resource person and Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner Jammu was the Chief Guest. Dr. Ashok Bhan, Patron, IIPA presided over the function.
Ramesh Kumar in his lecture highlighted the role of urbanization in the holistic development of the country and to focus on this development, he emphasized the need to take care of unplanned growth. He mentioned the role of citizen engagement in developing Jammu as the Heritage city. He also mentioned about the specific action plans being developed for the development of old city area in Jammu and some initiatives being undertaken for the city as a whole.
Sanjeev Verma pointed out a number of initiatives as a part of Smart City project. He also suggested that regular meetings with regards to the progress in Smart city project be conducted. Dr. Ashok Bhan in his presidential remarks expressed his happiness over Jammu being identified as a smart city. In his presentation Dr. Bhan suggested a development model for Jammu with a focus on retrofitting, Redevelopment, Greenfields.
