Srinagar based famous school resorts to 'loot', 'plunder'; increases tuition, bus fee
Parents at receiving end, feel the heat

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 11: Srinagar based school of a famous chain of schools has yet again resorted to 'loot' and 'plunder' as it has hiked the tuition fee and other allied charges without any consent from the concerned committee established in this regard.
A group of parents told Early Times that the administration of the school increased the tuition fee and bus fee over the past few months thus putting extra burden on the people whose wards are studying there. They said that the fee and the bus fee have been hiked in the range of 25-40 percent.
"In March this year the tuition fee was hiked to the tune of 25 percent and few days back the bus fee was increased by 40 percent. The administration of the school has taken us for a ride and unfortunately there is nobody among the present as well as previous dispensations who would take them to task," said the parents.
The school is a part of the chain of schools that has been operating across the North Kashmir for many decades now.
In Srinagar the school was established around two decades back and as on date it has got branches in Jammu, Kathua, Nagbani, Katra, Udhampur, Budgam, Baramulla, Anantnag, Rajouri and Leh. The school based at Jammu is the oldest one in the state since it was established in 1998.
The School Fee Fixation Committee set up by the previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) government in the state has failed to act against the school. This is despite the fact that the school in the past few years has been hiking the fees and other allied charges according to their own will.
"The school administration has virtually given a damn to the directives issued by the School Fee Fixation Committee. The higher ups of the school have been enjoying a close rapport with the people in power in New Delhi. They easily know how to keep the people at helm happy and at the end of day it is the common man who suffers," said the parents.
It would be in place to mention here that the School Fee Fixation Committee had impressed upon the private schools not to hike the school or bus fee of their own. It had made it clear that the fee can be hiked only up to 10 percent and that too after a green signal by them.
"On ground it has been found that the directives issued by the Fee Fixation Committee have been limited to papers only with implementation part missing on ground. Same holds true with the school where our children are studying. It is highly disturbing and the worst part is that the buck stops nowhere," said the parents.
The parents have pinned their hopes on the Governor Narendra Nath Vohra led State Administrative Council and said that Vohra should look into this matter. They said that advisor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai who has been given the charge of education should take the issue seriously so that justice is meted out to them.
