BARAMULLA, July 16: Police on Monday claimed to have busted a network of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit at Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Javid Iqbal told early times that acting on a specific input a naka was laid jointly by Sopore Police, Army's 52 RR, 177 & 179 Bn CRPF at Haritar area.
During checking one person was apprehended in suspicious circumstances who during preliminary questioning have revealed his identity as Bilal Ahmad Kaloo son of Abdul Rehman Kaloo resident of Takiabal Sopore an active member of JeM militant outfit, said SP.
However police statement reads that two grenades and Matrix sheet of JeM outfit were recovered from his procession.
While in this regard a case FIR number 65/2018 under section 7/25 A Act, 13 ULA stands registered in Police Station Tarzoo and further investigation has been taken up.
Statement reads that two more active members of JeM outfit were also arrested by Sopore Police with the assistance of 32 RR, 92 Bn CRPF during Naka checking at Yarbug Rafiabad who have been identified as Asif Shiekh son of Ghulam Qadir Shiekh and Abdul Majeed Mir son of Ghulam Ahmed Mir both residents of Yarbug Rafiabad.
One hand grenade, 04 RDS of AK47 and 02 Matrix sheets of JeM outfit recovered from them and in this regard a case FIR number 92/2018 U/S 7 /25 A Act, 13 ULA Act registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigation has been taken statement further reads.
Meanwhile in another militancy related incident, it is learnt from sources that reportedly one youth from Sopore town has joined militant ranks and the family of the youth have appealed their son to shun the path of violence and return home.
SP Sopore Javid Iqbal also confirmed to ET that one youth namely Ishfaq Ahmad Mir S/O Abdul Majeed Mir R/O Gund Mohalla Brath Kallan Sopore has been missing since past ten days from his home, has reportedly joined militant ranks.
The official said that ten days back family of missing youth have lodged missing report of their son and police is closely investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, Ishfaq's family has urged him to shun the path of violence and return to his loved ones.
