BJP's failure to show results forced it to withdraw support to PDP
7/17/2018 9:41:15 PM
If the BJP was not happy with the work
style of Mehbooba Mufti why did the BJP cling to power for over three years? This is a moot question after the exchange of hot words between Mehbooba and the BJP. While Mehbooba has blamed the BJP for breaking the PDP which could prove disastrous for the nation and the state but the BJP leadership treats it as immature on her part because the BJP has never broken any party, not to speak of the PDP. If the PDP has suffered revolt within the party it is the failure of Mehbooba to ensure unity among the party MLAs and other leaders. Those who have revolted against Mehbooba has blamed her of making the PDP as a personal property of Mehbooba and her relations The BJP has stated that Mehbooba Mufti failed as Chief Minister of the State and she could not deliver despite Government of India (GoI's) full support. When the CM had no desire to do work, it definitely affected rest of the ministers in the Government. Mehbooba failed as CM and it led to total failure of PDP-led coalition government," Avinash Rai Khanna, Incharge Jammu and Kashmir has stated.
Khanna has hoped under the Governor's Rule, peace could be established in the Valley which was not possible under the Mehbooba-led government.BJP has been a great sinner by withdrawing support to Mehbooba, which led to the fall of the coalition Government, when the BJP had totally failed to utilize funds on various development projects, which were released by the central Government. For the sake of argument the power portfolio remained under a senior BJP minister but the region of Jammu suffered because of prolonged shedding and breakdowns. The BJP could not hold together the coalition Government which in fact the PDP had forged alliance with the BJP. It had other alternatives to form the Government with the support of the Congress and the National Conference. It was for the first time that the BJP could share power in Jammu and Kashmir but its ministers and MLAs failed to show results. And when the going of the BJP had been exposed and the saffron brigade started suffering vote erosion it withdrew support to Mehbooba to save its skin.
On Mehbooba's allegations that if BJP attempts to split it would have disastrous consequences, Khanna said, "BJP never broke any party with a motive to form the government. Her statement is immature and irresponsible". During her government, he said, Mehbooba failed to establish peace in Kashmir even after full support from the Modi government."Prime Minister Narindra Modi visited the State atleast 12 times. He gave money for developmental activities in the State. The GoI also announced unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir during the holy month of Ramadan," Khanna said. He said during unilateral ceasefire, Syed Shujaat Bukhari was assassinated at Press Colony in Srinagar and Army man Aurangzeb killed and abducted by militants on Eid eve. If Khanna refers to these two incidents he should blame the BJP also because it shared power during which time the situation in Kashmir was alarming. And people were angry against the PDP forming a coalition Government with the BJP ."These killings exposed the failure of the government. As a responsible party, we withdrew support from PDP-led government to pave way for Governor rule for restoration of peace in the Valley," the BJP leader said.
Asked about government formation, he said, "Till now there is no scope for forming a new government.
