Bandipora roads in shambles, authorities in deep slumber

BANDIPORA, July 18: Residents of this north Kashmir district believe that good road leads to development but the daily commuters are facing with massive ordeal as most of the roads pass through potholes and the department concerned is giving deaf ear to their pleas.
There are various roads on which macdamisation work was done few months ago, but the locals believe that the substandard material was used and many areas were left out without macdamisation, said locals.
However sources told early times that, there are various roads from Srinagar-Bandipora via Shaltang and Shilwat were sub standard material was used thus leaving the local residents of this area to bite the dust all over the day.
Our district is in a pathetic state and given the hilly geography of the area, the area is prone to accidents, and the concerned authorities are in a deep slumber, said sources.
The dilapidated condition of roads in this north Kashmir district that include Dardpora , Hajin-Ajas road, Kudara ,Aragam-Chapran road, Binlipora-Ketsun, Sonarwani-Ahamsharief and Ganstan-Wangipora road.
Bashir Ahmad a resident of Argam said that they are suffering due to the indifferent attitude of the local administration and government toward the rural population and they are least bothered about their health and hygiene as bumpy roads have become hazardous for them.
We are facing serious problems from past 5years due to the dilapidated condition of vital road stretch from Sonarwani to main market Bandipora which is also the lone route for Gurez Valley.
The road has always been neglected firstly by Beacon Roads Organizations and now by the Road and Building's Department causing serious inconvenience to the inhabitants especially school going children.
We have apprised the concerned authorities on many occasions but they have never paid any heed towards our requests.
Locals also claim during rainfall, the potholes on the road, which are filled by rainwater, posing threat to lives, adding despite many assurances from the state authorities, the authorities, chose to turn deaf ear to our genuine demands, we appeal the Governor to intervene into the matter.
