Instead of releasing pending wages, SSP terminates 3 SPOs in Srinagar
8/2/2018 10:49:55 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 2: Instead of releasing wages of at least three Special Police Officer(SPO)s, who had been left without their dues for around six months, a Senior Superintendent of Police posted in Srinagar has disengaged services of the poor cops even without clearing their dues.
Official sources said the three cops were deployed in the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF ) and were scheduled to get their monthly wages from the office of the SSP Srinagar.
Despite attending their duties, the cops were left without salary. "This is a rarest of the rare case as otherwise our jawans get salary at the very commencement of new month. We were shocked to see why our boys were left without salary for the past so many months," said a senior official in the SDRF.
Sources said finding that three cops were facing a tough time without release of salary the SDRF officials had requested the SSP concerned to get the wages released without any further delay as it was otherwise brining disrepute for the police force that pays the wages in time.
However to the utter shock of the department, the SSP concerned got the policemen sacked from their services.
Sources said the development has shocked the entire police department as to how come could the services of SPOs who had been performing their duties without a delay be terminated.
"When these jawans were performing their duties as per the norms, terminating their services raises questions. When you don't pay them for their work, how can you remove them. This is injustice, sheer injustice," said a police officer in the SDRF.
An official in the department said the matter has been brought to the notice of the higher authorities in the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
"Yes the complaint is true but the department is working on it. What we were given to understand is that SSP was misled by his juniors," the official said.
Despite repeated attempts the concerned SSP was not available for comments.
