Two LeT militants, soldier killed in Drusoo encounter

BARAMULLA, Aug 3: Two militants of LeT outfit and a soldier were killed while as one security personnel was injured in an encounter in Drusoo village of Baahrampora in the outskirts of Sopore township of this north Kashmir district today.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Javid Iqbal told Early Times that two militants were killed today in an encounter that took place in Drusoo village in Sopore outskirts while as two security personnel's were injured among which a soldier succumbed to his injuries.
The top police official said that, both are local militants one is from Sopore town and another was from South Kashmir adding that preliminary investigation reveals that the slain militants were from LeT outfit.
"The dead bodies of slain militants were handed over to local residents for last rites, and encounter is over and the operation has been called off," the SP said.
The slain militants were identified as Riyaz Ahmed Dar son of Mohammad Akbar resident of Naseerabad, Chinkipora-Sopore and Khursheed Ahmed Malik son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Arihal-Pulwama. The slain army man has been identified as Sepoy Sawar Vijay Kumar. One more soldier Sepoy Ranjeet and a policeman Irfan Ahmad Wani also sustained injuries in the operation.
Some arms & ammunition including AK-47 rifles was also recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and investigation has been initiated in the instant matter.
It has been learnt that slain militant Khursheed was pursuing B. Tech from a college in Katra and he was preparing for KAS, but he had gone missing since Tuesday morning after which his cell phone was switched off while as Reyaz had joined the militant ranks on July 18.
