Even after breaking of alliance PDP leadership keeps BJP in good humour

Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 7: Even after breaking up of alliance PDP leadership is trying to keep BJP in good humour and does not want to take confrontation with erstwhile coalition partner. Announcement of the PDP remain abstain from Thursday's most prestigious elections to the post of Deputy Chairperson in the Rajya Sabha has authenticate this argument.
After the no-confidence motion, which was defeated by the NDA government, deputy chairperson's election has become the latest platform to showcase Opposition unity. The Opposition parties, led by the Congress, will look to retain the post after having burnt its fingers during the election to the Vice President when JD(U) pulled out of the Opposition camp to side with the NDA.
Credible sources said that opposition leaders tried their best to convince PDP leadership to vote against NDA candidate but party leadership this afternoon announced to maintain a distance from both NDA and UPA.
After breaking up of alliance, opposition parties across the country are trying to bring PDP its their fold but party leadership is maintaining equal distance to keep BJP in good humour.
PDP Chief Spokesperson Rafi Ahmad Mir Tuesday said that Peoples Democratic Party has decided to abstain from voting that is due to take place for the post of Rajya Sabha Vice Chairman.
He said that party president Mehbooba Mufti has taken this decision after holding consultations with the party leaders. "A whip has been issued by the party in this regard," Mir said. PDP has two members in the Rajya Sabha and their votes are very crucial in the elections because NDA is in minority in the Upper House.
The post of the deputy chairperson had been lying vacant since June following the retirement of PJ Kurien, who had been elected to the Rajya Sabha on a Congress ticket from Kerala. The current strength of Rajya Sabha is 244 and support of 123 members will be needed for a win in the full house.
