Elections for the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman are currently underway. In the elections, NDA nominee Harivansh is facing the joint Opposition candidate, BK Hariprasad. While both NDA and opposition have exuded confidence of a victory, the numbers are stacked in favour of the BJP-led ruling coalition. The NDA claims to have the support of 126 members in the Upper House, which has an effective strength of 244 MPs.
