Ending child labour remains elusive on childrens day

Udhampur Aug 9: While hundreds of children were preparing to celebrate independence day here on 15th August, a number of ither children were seen working on roads, factories , hotels, restaurants ,shops and yet others were noticed begging on roads .
Despite a ban on child labour, people in Udhampur continue to hire minors as domestic helps and workers and majority are working under the nose of administration serving tea and breakfast to officers and official working in canteens in daily routine .
Despite tall claims of administration and state government plight of child labour remains same as the state has failed to address the issue of compulsory primary education and things remains only up to speeches and papers.
Alleging district administration for there unconcerned about bringing changes
Rahul Jandial an advocate of distric court Udhampur said that number of poor children are working at hotels , restaurants , meat shops and it is amazing that some are serving tea to government offices under the nose of administration .
He added that who will bell the cat if ardent of law and administration fail to curb the menace what we can accept from others .
He added that on every Independence day and children day program sand planning are chalk out for the welfare of children but nothing seems on ground alter .
Indian Democratic Human Rights Organization NGO o vice president Sarita Devi said that Poverty has often been cited as the reason for the child labour problem in the country.
They added that generally, industrial houses prefer to employ child workers because they can be recruited for less pay, more work can be extracted from them and there is no problem of unions with them.
She added that number of children are working in the heart of city at Meat shops but there is no one from Labour commissioner to inspect and 'raids' to check employment of children.
