| 200 kanal Govt land encroached | | Villagers seek Governor’s intervention | |

Reasi, Aug 13: Around 200 kanals of forestland has been encroached in Barak Nallah area here with the concerned authorities allegedly sleeping over the issue.
The villagers said influential people have encroached upon forestland in area and that the concerned forest officials including DFO and Ranger have been silent. Scores of houses have come up on forestland in the area.
When contacted the concerned Ranger said the land that has been encroached upon doesn't belong to the Forest department but to the Revenue department.
The locals however contested the claims saying that the forest officials want to shed their responsibility. "We know it for centuries that it's a forestland," the villagers said. The villagers have appealed Governor NN Vohra to personally look into the matter. |
