Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 13: It has been more than four months since the projects under Central Road Funds (CRF) worth Rs 500 crore for Jammu were sanctioned but the concerned Public Works (Road and Building) Department has not started the tendering process till date creating hurdles in development works in Jammu.
Sources told Early Times that the Centre Government had approved the projects of Rs 500 under Central Road in April this year for Jammu region and the advance money was also released to the PW (R&B) Jammu so that the projects for connecting remote and hilly areas could be done within specified time but due to sluggish approach of the officials at the helms of the affair none of projects could be tendered by the department.
"The Government talks of all round development of the State but the working of the concerning department speak something else, which is hell bent to derail the development related projects due to which very few projects reach to its logical end and most of projects remain stuck due to the deliberate negligence of the officials of the department," they alleged further adding that on many occasions it has been observed that no transparency was adopted in tendering process of the projects due to which the projects remained non starter during entire financial year and later on the projects were allotted in the last few remaining months of the financial cleverly.
They further informed that given the unprofessional attitude of the State Government to handle various Central Sponsored Scheme (CSS), the Center Government shows lack of interest to enhance financial assistance to the State which ultimately pushes back the development aspect of the State. "In the present time, the need of the connecting the unconnected areas through construction of the roads have become priority in the development of any state but here in State like Jammu and Kashmir the execution and then completion of majority of the projects remain in question marks," they maintained.
