Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 14: Misrule unleashed upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir by the PDP-BJP alliance in past three years has led to deterioration of security situation to such extent that it is safe to hoist a Pakistani flag in Kashmir than the tricolour.
Two incidents related to hoisting of the tricolour and Pakistani flag that took place in Kashmir on Tuesday exposed the fact that saluting a tiranga is crime but not the Pakistani flag.
A day ahead of Independence Day, locals thrashed a group of people who were trying to unfurl the tricolour in commercial hub of Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
While the Srinagar-based news web portals reported that police have arrested the people who were trying to hoist the flag, however Jammu and Kashmir later cleared that they recued the men from mob and registered an FIR against the mob at Police Station Maisuma. Police also released CCTV footage of the incident.
"Some miscreants assembled at the scene and created disturbances by criminally intimidating them. Police Station Maisuma has taken cognizance by registering an FIR and an investigation has been initiated in the matter," the police said in a statement.
At around same time, students of Degree College Bijbehara hoisted a Pakistani flag on college building and also raised pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans. Students also marched towards Bijbehara market but weren't taken into custody instead were let off.
It is an established fact that Jammu and Kashmir police has miserably failed to protect all those nationalist who try to unfurl the national flag in Srinagar. However, in December 2017 a group of youth had unfurled the tricolour at Lal Chowk.
PDP-BJP misrule not only encouraged corruption and nepotism but in past three years state especially Kashmir province witnessed a rise in anti-India activities and militancy. A recent report suggests that over 120 youths have joined multiple militant groups this year.
