Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 16: The political pot in Jammu and Kashmir has begun to boil again amid the current political logjam, with the PDP dropping enough hints about it being part of the next government in the state.
The PDP, which so far had locked itself in a shell preferring to maintain a very calculated silence over the present deadlock, has finally come out in the open, giving enough hints that something behind the closed doors is getting materialised for the government formation.
For the past two days, the party has made two headlines about its activities. One was on August 15 when the top leadership of the party held a detailed meeting which was chaired by the party president Mehbooba Mufti.
Though the party tried to make the meeting appear as "nothing serious", it was the formation of the next government and stitching an alliance with the BJP once again.
However, the PDP spokesman meticulously tried to give the meeting a different colour. The meeting, as per the spokesman, discussed in detail the current political situation in the state and the need to safeguard Article 35-A at present. "It was unanimously agreed during the meeting that the special position accorded to the state of Jammu and Kashmir by the constitution of India needs to be protected on all fronts and that the party will remain in the forefront to defend it in country's Supreme Court," the spokesman said. "The meeting also highlighted how the PDP while being part of the coalition took drastic and vital measures for the defence of the Article 35-A and the government had engaged the top lawyers of the country for the purpose." PDP president during the meeting emphasised that the fight to safeguard Jammu and Kashmir's special status will be carried forward with the same zest, he said. Abdul Rahman Veeri, Mehboob Beg, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Abdul Haq Khan, Syed Altaf Bukhari, Naeem Akhtar, Nizam-ud-din Bhat, Mohammad Dilwar Mir, Syed Basharat Bukhari , Asiya Naqash, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Mohammad Khalil Bandh and Zahoor Ahmad Mir attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the meeting, as per the reports was all about the current happenings and how the terrains could be flattened that could pave way for the government formation in the state.
On Thursday, another very calculated move was being played by the party when it met the Governor in the form of a delegation. The party stated that the meeting with the Governor was aimed to raise several key issues pertaining to the state at present. However, if political pundits are to be believed, it was aimed to give rise to the speculations that something serious is going to be witnessed in the state's already charged political landscape.
Already, the BJP has been actively holding the back channel talks with several law makers, striving to hard to make the government formation possible as the elections for the state are scheduled in November 2020-more than two years from now.
