Horticulture Department organized Awareness Camp

Jammu, Aug 20: Department of Horticulture Jammu organized an Awareness Camp at Pagge Dansal under the chairmanship of Director Horticulture Jammu, Anuradha Gupta.
About 250 farmers from different areas of the block along with Panches and Sarpanchs participated in the programme. On this occasion, the Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, S. Kirtan Singh Raina presented the over view of various schemes being implemented by the department and stressed the farmers to plant more and more fruit trees to save the precious environment and create job opportunities for their children.
He said that in these days the occurrence of devastating floods in various states of the country are due to the denuation of trees (forests) in large scale. He stressed that the fruit plants should be planted by all the farmers. He also gave stress on the mechanization and adoption of latest fruit cultivation techniques. On this occasion about 500-600 fruit plants of different high yielding varieties were also distributed to the farmers free of cost through the holy hands of Anuradha Gupta Director Horticulture Jammu. Besides, an exhibition of different machines and tools was also made for the farmers. The Director during her address to the gathering advised the farmers to come forward from their core of heart and take benefits from various schemes of the department being implemented in the current year. She advised them to work in an organized way by making Farmers Producers Organizations (FPO's).
