First phase of Guidance, Counselling camps concludes

JAMMU Aug 21: First phase of Guidance and Counselling camps being organized by Counselling Cell of Directorate of School Education Jammu, concluded today at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Rehari Jammu.
On the directions of Director School Education Jammu, Rakesh Kumar Srangal, Counselling Cell of DSEJ, organized guidance and counselling camps at different government Schools. On pilot basis, the camps were conducted at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, GHSS Domana, GGHSS Satwari, GHSS Muthi, Hari Singh HSS and GGHSS Rehari Jammu.
About 600 students participated in the first phase of these camps.
The objectives of organizing such camps were need assessment, career guidance and Teacher Consultation. Students were made aware about various career options available in Arts, Science and Commerce streams besides informing them about various Vocational Courses.
Director School Education has directed the counselling Cell team to regularly keep updating students about various career options by holding workshops, seminars and camps in schools. He also instructed the counselling cell team to disseminate career literature in schools for the reference of students and teachers.
Director School Education further directed the counselling cells constituted at different levels (School, DIETs, and DSEJ) to start Career awareness campaigns.
Pertinently, on August 7th 2018, Director School Education Jammu inaugurated the camp at GBHSS Gandhi Nagar in presence of Deputy Director Employment, Rajiv Magotra and Counselling Cell DSEJ Team.
The activities undertaken during these camps were career orientation, career planning talk by I/C Counselling cell DSEJ, Romesh Kumar and career talks by Vikas Dutta.
Experts including Rashmi Kotwal, Pratima Sharma and Kusum Katoch interacted with the students on career needs assessment and vocational courses whereas officials from Employment department also apprised the students about various schemes like National Career Service.
Discussions on self awareness, career awareness and career planning were also held during these camps. Teacher consultations were held in all the Schools with an aim to strengthen the guidance and counselling cells in schools. The students were also apprised about the various career-related helplines, Schemes, Institutes and Scholarships. All the programmes were held under the supervision of I/C Counselling Cell.
