| Kashmiri migrants meet, project demands with regard to municipal polls | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 21: A general public meeting held under the chairmanship of President Engineer Ramesh Chander Mahajan discussed many points regarding the grievances of Kashmiri migrants.
The participants said that displaced people have been suffering due to present turmoil and have followed the formalities framed by the municipal corporation, urban and rural block level bodies paying all dues of basic amenities. They said that displaced voters are deprived of their constitutional right to cast their franchise in respective areas where they are presently living.
The participants said that since they are presently residing at Jammu why they are deprived of their franchise at Jammu. They demanded abolition of M form system saying that same causes hindrances and discouraging the migrants voters from exercising their franchise. They demanded that berths may be kept reserved for Kashmiri migrants in municipal as well as in the Panchayat Election migrants in all Jammu camps.
They said that non camps should be declared as under category of Panchayat/Rural/Urban block/local block area to elect the sarpanchs for Jagti township, Nagrota, Purkhoo same as consider corporates in non camps area of Durga Nagar, Bohri, Muthi and Purkhoo. It was impressed upon to redress the grievances forthwith so as to ensure the maximum participation of Kashmiri migrants. |
