hib and Chadoora sub divisions of Budgam district, authorities have failed to curb this illegal trade.
Sources say that as the matter has been brought into the notice of Deputy Commissioner Budgam Dr Sehrish Asgar by the office of Advisor to Governor B B Vyas, the DC ordered a probe into the matter on Tuesday. A delegation of villagers had met with Advisor B B Vyas on Monday in Srinagar.
Sources say that in addition to walnut trees many forest trees such as Kail and Fir have also been axed in Kachwari, Darwan, Kanidajan and Pakherpora areas of Budgam PP Forest division. The employees of power company, revenue department and Forest (SFC) are said to be in league in this scam.
