Gas agencies in Jammu fleece consumers
Charge Rs 20 on delivery of each cylinder
8/21/2018 11:21:05 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 21: Domestic Gas provider agencies of Jammu Division are allegedly fleecing the consumers keeping a cut of Rs 20 on delivery of each cylinder, according to a complaint filed with J&K Grievance Cell? over the unabated loot.
The complainant in his complaint alleged that agencies are earning daily lakhs of rupees, as there are over 10 lakh LGP consumers in the Division.
"Agencies charge delivery charges Rs 20 from consumers, even if they pick cylinder from sale point", the complainant claimed in his complaint and added that it is mandatory not charge delivery fees if a consumer picks cylinder from sale point.
He claimed that it is obligations on Gas agencies that they have to provide free home delivery of cylinders to customers falling within 5 km area, without any extra charge for delivery.
"A weighing machine must be carried by the delivery boy to check the weight of cylinder in front of customer.
Not to Refill expiry cylinders as date and year along with quarterly month of expiry is always written on cylinder", he claimed and added that if home delivery of cylinder is not made by Gas agency then it is mandatory for the agency to refund an Amount of Rs 20/- to the customer.
"Gas agencies do not provide free of cost home delivery, as the delivery boys take 20-30 Rs per delivery. Most of the cylinders are expiry and are in high danger of blast. The gas filled in cylinder is not full. There is always a 1-2 kg gas difference in weight of cylinder. No gas agency Refund Rs 20/- if customer himself takes the cylinder from gas agencies", he said.
He claimed that it is a biggest scam by Gas agencies because, "If a gas agency sell 300 cylinders per day then 300×20= 6000 per day and 6000×30=1,80,000/- thousand per month."
