8/21/2018 11:31:20 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 21: Setting aside the orders issued by the Principal of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) for banning the faculty members and consultants from holding any medical camp, a Medical Officer posted in Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) Jammu held a medical camp at Jagti in Nagrota to give boost to his private practice.
Photographs posted by Ranjit Thakur, the Medical Officer in the Department of Urology in SSH, on various social networking sites show him holding a medical camp at Jagti in Nagrota on last Sunday, in total violation of the directives of issued by the head of the GMC&H.
It is pertinent to mention here that former Health Minister had ordered ban on the free voluntary medical camps. An order to this effect was issued by the Principal Medical College wherein she stated that no faculty member or consultant of GMC and Associated Hospitals shall hold any medical camp.
"As per the standing directions of the Minister for Health and Medical Education, J&K during his visit held on May 18, 2018, no faculty member/consultant of Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals, Jammu shall hold any medical/diagnostic camp without prior permission/approval of the administrative department", reads the order.
If sources are to be believed, some medical officers were holding medical camps just to boost their private practice owing to which they failed to work wholeheartedly in hospitals.
Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal GMC&H while talking to Early Times stated that the said Medical Officer had never sought any permission to hold such camps.
She further said that appropriate action would be initiated against the said Medical Officer for disobeying the directions.
