Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Aug 23: As the annual Machail Mata Yatra is about to reach its conclusion, the two Sanstha groups on Wednesday fought and exchanged blows in public at Machail Mata Bhawan which forced the security personnel and army men present at the spot to intervene so as to maintain law and order. After the incident, a large number of people are now demanding establishment of Machail Mata Shrine Board for effective management for annual yatra.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the trouble erupted between the local group of Sanstha led by Daljeet Singh Manhas and the group that had arrived from Bhaderwah to Machail Bhawan along with annual Chhadi of Chandi Mata.
The locals informed the Early Times that the heated exchange between the local Sanstha and the other rival group turned into a full fledge fight. Following a massive protest by the people, the trouble makers were forced to leave the spot and return to Gulabgarh by boarding local chopper service. A senior police officer while confirming the incident to Early Times said that police is looking into the matter added that Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar also rushed to the spot to supervise the situation. He said that police will register an FIR against the trouble makers adding that any person who will try to destabilize peace and tranquility in the area will be dealt strictly in accordance to the law. Some pilgrims also allege disrespect of the Chhadi Mubarak. The police also refuted the allegation of using force to restore order and said that nearly 10000 to 15000 pilgrims were present at the Bhawan when the incident took place and further said that the situation is under control.
Meanwhile, the chorus of framing Machail Mata Shrine Board on the pattern of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is getting louder among the public of Kishtwar and Doda districts.
