| Katra MC's 'partial' anti- encroachment drive | | Targets selective traders, shields blue eyed | | Early Times Report
Katra, Aug 23: The Municipal Committee Katra has been accused of double standards in its anti-encroachment drive as on one side it is targeting selective traders but shielding the favourites.
Sources told Early Times that it is evident that there is massive encroachment of streets, roads done by the local traders, shopkeepers across the town. The most affected places in the town where encroachment of streets, roads is rampant are main bazaar Karta, Ban Ganga road, Kashmir Road and Jammu road but the Municipal Committee Katra, district administration are least bothered to get rid of this menace.
"Some officials, employees of MC Katra are directly encouraging encroachment in lieu of monthly commission from the traders, rehariwalas and the other who don't fall into their line are meted with strong action by removing encroachment and imposing heavy fine on them," they alleged further adding that law should be equal for everyone but some employees are indulged in corruption and pushing forward encroachment in the holy town. They further informed that illegal reharies are running in the town in clear violation of Municipal Act under the nose of the local administration which is fully responsible for creating this mess.
