Sikh community ignored politically, socially, economically: SAD
8/23/2018 10:45:03 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 23: In view of the ensuing Municipal Committee, Local bodies and Panchayat elections being held in the state, the Shormani Akali Dal (Badal) organized a meeting to take final call on the highly belated elections to such committees.
They said that they felt in view of the Sikh community being ignored politically, socially, economically, even in religious matters and services and others. Shormani Akali Dal (Badal) is of view that all Sikh organizations and interested incumbents should come together in larger interest of community to ensure that their votes are utilized purposefully and division of votes is avoided. So that maximum representation is there in all such organizations. "This can be made possible only if we vow to avoid our division of votes, take help or even enter into understanding with likeminded organizations and work for the welfare of all particularly our own community, "they added. It has been experienced that all Sikh voters become victim of division for which all political parties work and keep us away from all such bodies which are empowered to take decisions.
All the speakers of SAD (Badal) and other Sikh organizations who shared their views and appreciated the idea mooted by SAD and they whole heartedly support the move to have a dignified representation in all these bodies/organizations which are going to be elected during ensuing election.
A resolution was adopted at the end of meeting wherein it was pledged that all Sikh bodies and organizations will unitedly fight for the welfare of the community by safeguarding its interests and will foil any attempt which may result in the division of community votes. It was also impressed upon all the organization/bodies and interested incumbents to come forward and take the community in their respective areas into confidence so that desired results are achieved in ensuing elections.
It was also decided that J&K Sikh convention will be organized in coming days by involving whole community wherein all the relevant political, social and religious issues confronting the community will be deliberated upon and discussed for their ultimate resolution.
