Jammu, Aug 24: : Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur of Jammu and Kashmir High Court (Jammu Wing) while taking serious note of the kidnapping of one Jeelo W/o Shokat Ali and Shokat Ali S/o Kaju Ali (Tribal Couple) residents of Village Manyari, Tehsil Hiranagar District Kathua who were kidnapped immediately after Jeelo W/o Shokat Ali appeared before the Court of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur on August, 14, 2018 directed SSP Kathua to ensure that both Jeelo and Shokat Ali are protected against the harm to their life and limbs and further the statement of Jeelo is recorded under Section 164-A CrPC.
Advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted that immediately after the hearing of the case on August, 14, 2018 Mst. Jeelo was kidnapped alongwith Shokat Ali and were thrashed by identified people and there was threat to the life of the tribal couple.
Advocate drew the attention of the Court towards a video which has gone viral on social media wherein it is shown that Shokat Ali has been handcuffed by the above referred persons in the illegal confinement and is being continuously tortured with sticks.
Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur took serious note of the situation emerging particularly the kidnapping of the tribal couple after their attendance before the State High Court on August, 14, 2018 when Jeelo had made a statement in the Court of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur that she had contracted marriage with Shokat Ali out of her free will and consent. The court looking into the seriousness of the matter directed SSP Kathua to ensure that both Jeelo and Shokat Ali are protected against the harm to their life and limbs and further that the statement of Mst. Jeelo is recorded under Section 164-A CrPC.
Looking into the importance of the matter, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur further directed SSP Kathua to submit a report in the matter within one week.
