Fake currency racket busted, 3 held

Jammu, Aug 25: With the arrest of three persons and recovery of Rs 7000 fake currency notes along with one Laptop, printer, papers from their possession, Gandhi Nagar police today claimed to have busted a fake currency racket.
Police spokesman said that yesterday a complaint was lodged by Dr. Amir Qazi of Qtr No. C-91 Govt. Estate Quarters Gandhi Nagar Jammu that he want to sell his I-Phone-X to a person whom he met through OLX App. on 22.08.2018 when he went to Gole Market to meet him but the said individual along with his other two friends took complainant's i-Phone and handed him Rs 75,000 fake currency. They all then moved away from the spot in a Swift Dezire Car bearing Registration number JKO2BT-6377.
On this a case under FIR No. 192/2018 under sections 420 and 489-B of RPC was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station while Rs 75,000 fake currency notes were seized by the police and further investigation was started.
In order to work out the case a team of officers/officials of Gandhi Nagar police station under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu-Vivek Gupta was constituted for arresting the culprits and due to the hectic efforts of the team some suspects were rounded up and put to sustain questioning during which accused namely Rohit Kumar and Sahil Kumar (both brothers) and Gharu Ram all residents of Kheri Bishnah Jammu confessed their involvement in the commission of crime and on their disclosure one Laptop, printer, papers and fake currency notes of Rs 7000 were recovered making the total fake currency notes to Rs 82,000. The i-Phone in question as well as car with fake number plate used by the accused persons in the commission of crime was also recovered.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia-SHO Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Rohit Bhagat of Gandhi Nagar under the supervision of in-charge SDPO City South Davinder Singh, in-charge SP City South Vinay Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Vivek Gupta.
