Public libraries remain closed in Mendhar, Surankote

Poonch, Aug 16: The youth have been deprived of reading quality looks to enhance their knowledge in Mendhar and Surankote Sub division The public libraries have been closed unauthorisedly the concerned for no reasons source said here today
They said the public library of Mendhar has been closed for the last two months for no reasons. The only employee of the public library Mendhar was transferred to Jammu without transfering any other employee at his place as a result of which the said library is closed for the last two months.
Source said the public library Menhdar is being run from a local shop which has no furniture or any Almirah to keep the books in order. The costly books were dumped on ground and have become the food for silver worms and other insects. The books are in dilapidated condition and if the shop will remain closed continuously the valuable books will be destroyed they added. The youth find it difficult to coupe up with the situation as they have no option other than to keep clam
Similarly, the condition of Public library Surankote is no different than that of Mendhar where the books were in worst condition and the library was closed for the last 2 years. One can imagine the condition of the costly books which were lying on the ground of the library
A local social activist Aakash Malik has appealed the district authorities to take the cognizance of matter and open the closed public libraries fir the educated youth of the areas like other places
