NMC appeals Governor to review Govt order to provide 7th pay commission arrears

JAMMU, Aug 28: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri appealed Governor to review the erstwhile State Govt. order to provide 7th pay commission arrears in one installment those pensioners above 80 age group and demanded that the same order should also applied to all the pensioners age group including these pensioners adding that pension is the only source of their income.
Acceding to press statement issued here, President of the NMC Shastri expressed deep concern over the pace at which action regarding regularization of sixty one thousand daily rated workers working in the various departments of the state Govt. under SRO520 is taking place. "The matter is poised to take decades for settlement if this is way to move forwarded on the issue," shastri said.
He pointed out that there are glaring inconsistencies and shortcomings in SRO 520, which makes task of collecting necessary implication /documents very difficulties, rather impossible. He also said that these daily rated workers were paid salaries after yearly gaps or at least six monthly gaps and also, they were issued no documents, records for the same. He expressed the hope that with the new Governor starting on a positive, note will resolve this long pending and burning issue which has the potential of snowballing into the major political issue during the coming local bodies, panchayat and upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He termed the new Governor a man of astute political wisdom and a humane administrator and the governor being on a mission will surely address this issue for the betterment of this highly useful workforce.
He added that the need of the hour is modified early orders and issue fresh order for releasing the 7th pay commission arrears in one go in favor of state pensioners so that pensioners would get sigh of relief. Release of pending installment of D.A due from July last, enhancing the wages of daily wager workers to Rs.500/- per day, releasing of all pending wages of daily rated workers working in irrigation and flood control, PHE, PDD, PWD in one go beside enhancing the medical allowance to Rs.1000/- per month on the pattern of Central Govt. pensioners were other demands highlighted in the meeting.
Among others who were also present on the occasion included Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S. Jamwal, Jaipal Sharma, Swarn Bhagat, Vijay Bhagat, Pawan Kumar, Shail Singh, Bupinder Singh, Tilak Raj, Girdhari Lal and others.
