New Governor is 'our man' - Jammu & Kashmir BJP president caught boasting in video

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 30: Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina has kicked up a controversy after a video, in which he is seen calling newly appointed state Governor Satya Pal Malik "hamara banda" (our man), went viral on social media. In the video clip, Raina can be seen mocking the outgoing Governor N.N. Vohra.
It shows Raina talking to a group of men, "What did I tell you a few days back?" he said. One of them replies, "Governor layenge" (we will get governor).
The video also shows Malik saying that the new Governor has been appointed as the "former Governor N.N. Vohra was always thrusting his point of view." "Vohra ko hum yehan nahin lana chahtey thay. Woh apni dafli bajata tha. (the new governor has come. We did not want to get Vohra here. He would always push his point of view)," Raina can be heard saying in the video.
"Abhi governor aya hain, hamara banda hain (now, the new Governor has come. He is our man," he added. When asked about Raina's remark, BJP spokesperson Sunil Sethi said what he said "might have some context to it". However, he tried to play down the whole controversy by saying that a Governor "belongs to everybody and does not belong to a particular party".
"The Governor does not belong to a particular party or group but all people. He is holding a constitutional position," Sethi told reporters.
