2 LeT militants killed in Hajin encounter

BANDIPORA, Aug 30: A joint team of security forces eliminated two foreign militants of LeT outfit in Hajin area early Thursday morning.
A senior police official said that a joint team of security forces launched a search operation following the reports of presence of 2-3 militants in Par mohalla of Hajin area.
"Based on specific intelligence reports, our men had launched CASO in Par mohalla area and started door to door searches", the official said.
The police official said that during the searches, militants fired on police party that was retaliated leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter two militants were eliminated.
Huge quantity of arms and ammunition including rifles, magazines, pouches etc and incriminating material was recovered from the site of encounter.
From the incriminating material seized from the site of encounter, it was learnt that both the killed militants were foreigners from Pakistan and identified as Rizwan alias Jindaal and Ali alias Maaz.
Both were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT and were involved in several attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities in the area.
Both the militants were of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit, while as it is learnt that one of their associates managed to break the cordon amid intense clashes which broke out in the area soon after the gunfight ensued at Parra Mohalla, Hajin, said sources.
Meanwhile, authorities have snapped Internet service in Hajin and adjoining parts of Bandipora district in the wake of the gunfight.
