Early Times Report
srinagar, Aug 30: Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed his displeasure over the lapse of funds and issued strict directions to the Chief Secretary and the Administrative Secretaries to fix the responsibility if funds were allowed to lapse.
Sources told Early Times that on Thursday Malik chaired a meeting of top officials of civil administration at the Civil Secretariat here and directed them to gear up the administrative machinery to function with speed, efficiency and accountability.
"The non-seriousness of the officials was resulting in lapse of funds. If funds are released, then the concerned officials will be responsible for it," sources quoted Governor as saying.
They said the Governor also urged the officials not to tolerate any corrupt official and take stern action against those found guilty.
"The government has already made known its resolve on development works and it will not tolerate any laxity on the part of the officials and the employees," the Governor has said.
Sources said that the Governor has also said that corruption would not be tolerated and stern action would be taken in any graft-related issue. "Strict action must be taken against those negligent officers and employees who deprive people from availing benefits of government schemes and from supply of public services," the governor has said.
Sources said that Governor has also sought the support of officers in field to ensure a clean, prompt and result oriented governance to people, particularly those living in far off, hilly and disadvantageous areas of the state.
Sources said that Governor also directed the heads of the departments to submit report to the government on implementation of government schemes.
It is to mention here that for the first time after assuming charge of the state, the Governor Thursday received Guard of Honour here in the Civil Secretariat.
