Teachers' hunger strike enters day 2, demand implementation of 7th pay commission

JAMMU, Aug 31: Indefinite chain hunger strike of Teachers' Joint Action Committee (TJAC) near Press Club Jammu for implementation of 7th Pay Commission entered 2nd day. The strike ff Teachers joint action committee which is an amalgam of various Teachers' Organizations including Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum , J&K ReT Teachers Forum, TEHREEK-e-Rahbar-e-Taleem Forum, J&K SSA Forum and others. The strike was organised under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee under the dynamic leadership of State President JKRTTF Vinod Sharma and State Vice-president JKRTTF Gulzabir Ahmed Daing and Sukhdev Singh Sumbria, who are also the senior leaders of TJAC.
The hunger strike has been organised in favour of grievances of SSA/RMSA teachers and Masters which included Immediate Implementation of 7th pay commission in favour of SSA /RMSA Teachers and masters, and Delinking of SSA salary from MHRD and Linking it with the state budget.
TJAC leaders who were on 24-hour fast on 2nd day of hunger strike included Gulzumbair Ahmed Daing state Vice President JKRETTF, Hari Lal Nag District President JKRETTF Ramban, Joginder Singh Chib Zonal President Batote, Farooq Ahmed Lone Zonal President Ukhral, Ashraf Ahmed Katoch, Sajad Ahmed Zargar, Patimber Singh, Surjeet Singh, Sundhari Lal, Mulkh Raj, Bhim Singh and Rajesh Singh.
While addressing the gathering, Vinod Sharma expressed deep concern over the step motherly treatment to the SSA teachers and masters who have been deprived of 7th Pay Commission and are put in mental trauma. He appealed the governor and advisors to the governor to intervene in this regard for the welfare of thousands of these teachers and masters and issue order of implementation of 7th Pay Commission in their favour, otherwise they will intensify their stir day by day and for the loss studies of poor students of rural areas the government would be personally responsible.
