Early Times Report

Anantnag, Sept 1: In Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, some officials have allegedly started a 'scandalous' recruitment drive across Kashmir.
Early Times has learnt from reliable sources that a number of innocent job aspirants are reporting at different tourist spots in Kashmir for joining the department but without having any formal orders in hand.
"Each day they are approaching us and saying that the officials at directorate have told them to join but they don't have any order with them from any competent authority," an officer, pleading anonymity said.
The officer, posted at famous tourist spot, said that he didn't allow them to join because he hadn't received any communication from his higher-ups.
"When I didn't allow them to join and asked them to produce engagement orders, they (job aspirants) ringed someone and told me talk to him. Once I spoke to him on phone he turned out a clerk working in Tourism department and he requested me to allow them to work but I again demanded written communication from him which I haven't received so far despite passing of over two weeks now," he disclosed.
Sources said that at some tourist places such job aspirants were allowed to join and work after the top officials pressurized their subordinates.
"It's not clear whether they have been employed as permanent employees or engaged as causal labours or consolidated works," a tourism department employee said, requesting this reporter to report the issue as he fairs that these job aspirants might have been duped by the politicians and officers.
Director Tourism Kashmir, Tassaduq Geelani, on being contacted said that he will not allow anyone to join the department who hasn't come through proper channel.
"I want to tell the all job aspirants to be aware of these touts," he said, adding that "my officers must bring this issue into my notice so that I can alert police and culprits are punished who exploit innocents and loot them on the name of providing jobs."
