Early Times Report

Udhampur, Sept 2: In Jammu & Kashmir over loading ,human error. drunken driving are the main cause of accidents.
Locals while Talking to Early Times Said that cause of accident is negligent driving as drivers engage in racing with other vehicles the drivers of vehicles (matadors & buses) cross the speed limits not only in cities but in rural areas also.
It is mostly observed that auto rickhaws , taxies and buses carrying school children to their respective schools are overloaded which very often causes accidents.
Overloading of passengers vehicles is an offence under section 13,114,194 of motor vehicles act 1988 but no action has been taken against them.
Every year hundreds of passengers lose their precious lives due to accidents caused by overloading in passengers vehicles. The Traffic Control Department has failed miserably in taking strong action against overloading in J&K.
As per the Data Available till July 31 ,2018 ,252 cases registered in District Udhampur in which 171 people got injured and 32 peoples lost lives in different road mishaps.
