9/3/2018 9:59:25 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 3: In a meeting of district unit of J&K Rehber-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTTF) which was chaired by district president Aftab Tantray, it was decided to join State body call to observe Teachers' Day as black day as the government has failed to fulfil their long pending demands.
JKReTTF State body headed by Farooq Ahmed Tantray on Saturday concluded their 5 days long sit-in protest both at Srinagar and Jammu in protest against Government's failure to release their salaries as per 7th Pay Commission benefits.
Teachers appointed under Sarav Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) have been demanding delinking of their salaries from Centrally Sponsored budget under Ministry of Human Resources & Development (MHRD) and to provide them benefits of 7th pay commission.
These teachers have organised protests for more than 25 times this year in favour of their demands and as the government has not yet come out with any decision, these teachers have decided to observe Teachers' Day as Black Day at Partap Chowk in Srinagar.
Aftab Tantray, district president JKReTTF, Rajouri while addressing the teachers said they must join the State level protest at Srinagar on September 5 by bearing black dresses.
More than 41000 teachers in the entire State comes under this category and not getting benefits of 7th Pay Commission.
"We celebrated both Eid festivals and Janam Ashtami festivals without 7th Pay Commission benefits & we are going to celebrate Teachers' Day as Black Day which is injustice to so called 'Nation Builders' and black spot on the Democracy "said Aftab Tantray.
Those who can't join protest at Srinagar should bear the black dress at their respective schools said Tanray and also appealed to the teachers to prepare themselves for a long struggle.
