Jammu, Sept 3: Illegal, unregistered clinical laboratories which have mushroomed all across the city in last few years have ben fleecing the people of Jammu with un-objective testing procedures and arbitrary charges.
Atleast half a dozen such illegal clinical laboratories operating around the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu are targeting the gullible people coming from outside the city.
Sources in GMC informed Early Times that these unregistered labs lack even the basic diagnostic equipment and trained staff and hence their tests lack objectivity. "They have hired some people who stay in contact with GMC&H's staff, and visit the hospital on phone to collect sample from patients admitted in various departments", they said adding, "There are hundreds of illegal laboratories in Jammu city only, where people are being fleeced".
Appreciating recent state vide crackdown on illegal Dental clinics in state, they said that illegal clinical labs were more dangerous. "Doctors diagnose/ treats a patients on basis of clinical report and error on part of report can put lives of patients at risk", they said and added that district administration on its own should take actions against such labs which are playing with the lives of people. |
