SHO Kathua skips SSP to gain publicity
9/6/2018 10:09:27 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 6: The media crazy Station House Office of police station Kathua, Amit Sangra, ignored the orders of SSP Kathua and gave an interview to his favourite media persons about confiscation of 17 kg poppy straw on Wednesday.
Before an official statement was released by the SSP, the SHO in his bid to earn publicity for himself, presented the consignment and accused in front of his favourite media persons. He also gave a sound byte to the scribes.
There is anger against the SHO Kathua among most of the media persons for not inviting them whenever there is any special event.
A senior journalist said: "Whenever police invites media persons the invitation comes through Kathua police's media cell or via through PCR where all scribes cover police various programmes or press conferences. But the action of this SHO shows he bypasses his seniors."
Meanwhile, SSP Kathua Shridhar Patil while talking to Early Times said he has taken cognizance of media persons complaint against the SHO. He said whenever police holds any event, the media personnel are called through proper channel and Kathua police have a media cell which informs all media houses.
"It is unfortunate that the SHO Kathua called a few media people for coverage of the poppy seizure. I will ensure such things are not repeated," he said.
It is pertinent to mention that there are strict directions from the top police officials that without the consent of SSP, no statement or sound byte should be given by a lower rank police officer.
