Speaker flags-off Kailash Kund Yatra

UDHAMPUR, Sept 6: Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today flagged off the historical three-day annual Kailash Kund Yatra here from Vasuki Nag Temple, Dudu, Tehsil Chenani of district Udhampur.
Large number of pilgrims hailing from across the Northern region started their pilgrimage early this morning with enthusiasm and traditional fervor.
MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat, MLA Ramnagar, R S Pathania, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar, Director Tourism, Om Parkash Bhagat, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dudu, Abdul Sattar, SDPO Chenani, Chander Jeet Singh, district/ sectoral officers of various departments, Vasuki Nag Kailash Kund Committee members including large number of devotees were present on the occasion.
Interacting with the pilgrims, Dr Nirmal Singh said that the religious event holds a strong social and cultural connotation that will help in establishing strong ties with common people especially in remote communities and far off areas. "Such events are essential for promoting folk-spiritual culture, harmony and peace", the Speaker added. He said that the "Kailash Kund is an abode of Nagraj Vasuki and this Yatra is an epitome of religious fervor, communal harmony and adventurous spirit of the area and expressed the hope that divine blessings will strengthen the bonds of amity.
Dr Singh also emphasized on organizing events like hiking and trekking through this picturesque track to explore the scenic beauty of such places to attract more and more tourism in the region.
District Administration has made elaborated arrangements of tents temporary shelter and medicare facilities for the comfort of the pilgrims' enroute.
