Forget Kashmir, hold Panchayat, ULB polls in Jammu-Ladakh
Anti-nationals making nationalist people suffer
9/8/2018 10:51:29 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 8: Kashmir based parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party are once again trying to sabotage Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies polls in the state.
The Kashmir centric approach of these parties has been making Jammu and Ladakh regions for the past many decades. "These parties are just bothered about addressing their constituencies and are least bothered about the people of two regions, whose population is more than Kashmir Valley," said a politician.
He said that in February this year the then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti rescinded her decision to hold these polls just to appease the separatists and the people sitting across the Line of Control. "Now when the Governor's administration has announced these polls NC and PDP are playing a spoil sport again," the politician added.
He said that Jammu and Ladakh regions are suffering due to Kashmir. "One needs to ask these parties that why should Jammu and Ladakh suffer for the sake of Kashmir. If people of the Valley are not interested in these polls so let it be. They should be left alone. Nationalist people of Jammu and Ladakh regions who have been Indians and would always remain Indians should not be made to suffer for the sake of a few anti-national elements in the Valley," he added.
An analyst said in absence of Panchayats many centrally sponsored schemes have failed to take off in the rural areas. "Benefits of these schemes are not trickling down to the grass root level due to these elections not being held in Jammu and Kashmir for a longtime. NC and PDP have proved that they don't care for the people of any region except Kashmir," he added.
The analyst said that it's unfortunate that the leaders from Jammu region have failed to rake up this issue vociferously. "Bharatiya Janata Party which won 25 out of 37 assembly seats in Jammu region in 2014 polls has failed to do anything for the people. The focus of the BJP leaders has been on just how to get into the power. They have not done anything to counter the propaganda of Kashmir centric leaders," he added.
the analyst was of the opinion that Jammu based leaders should put in all the efforts to ensure that Panchayat and ULB polls are held as per schedule at least in Jammu and Ladakh regions. "They need to give a befitting reply to PDP and NC rather than just acting as mute spectators," he added.
