Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: The Tehsil Administration Ramkot which was overenthusiastic, to remove the alleged encroachments made by poor kiosk owners, has shown extra-reluctance to remove the encroachments made by influential shopkeepers in Gujro Nagrota market.
Moreover in response to the directions of Governor Grievance Cell, an order was also issued by Deputy Commissioner Kathua to Additional Deputy Commissioner Billawar but so far the order made no change in the encroachments, pictures of which were published by Early Times earlier.
On August 24, Early Times had published a story along with the photographs of some influential shopkeepers, who had encroached upon several kanals of land outside their shops.
These encroachers were made by Marble House, which had kept several marble sheets, hardware material outside the shop. Kamar Singh (a bank employee) had encroached upon government land outside his own house to make road, Vivek Fast Food (owner Ganesh Kumar son of Fakir Chand), and a school named Indira Shishu Mandir School, which h

d reportedly encroached upon large chunk of government land where they used to park their school vehicles.
After the publication of story, a citizen had lodged a complaint with JK Governor Grievance Cell, which had forwarded the same to DC Kathua, which in turn had wrote to ADC Billawar vide office number DCK/CMP (Complaints)/ 2018-19/ 268-70 dated 28/8/2018.
When the story was published, the Tehsildar Ramkot had assured to take action against the encroachers but still leniency has been shown for the last over one fortnight.
When asked Additional Deputy Commissioner Billawar Joginder Singh about the delay in taking action, he said that Tehsildar Ramkot was unwell due to which action was delayed. On being asked why there was no delay in taking action against kiosks but action was delayed in case of influential shopkeepers, he repeated the same statement.
Contesting the claims of ADC, sources said that Tehsildar Ramkot was not unwell at all. They said that even the shopkeepers have been boasting that administration had assured them of no action.
