As CM Mehbooba failed to nail fake state subject holders
Noise on Art 35A a ploy to blackmail Centre
9/9/2018 11:37:53 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 9: Former Chief Minister and the Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti is leaving no stone unturned to claim that her party would go to any extent to safeguard Article 35A but she has totally forgotten that when she was heading the state thousands of people were given fake state subjects and her government failed to take any action against them.
Addressing PDP workers meeting at Kangan in Ganderbal district, Mehbooba said her party was committed to preserve the sanctity of Article 35 A. "During my government, I made every effort from engaging top notch lawyers to raising political awareness in the country and the state about the need for protection of Article 35 A."
" In future also whatever will be required, me and my party will do (it) for protecting the special status of the state," she said.
"Someone needs to tell Mehbooba Mufti that Article 35-A is directly linked to the state subject issue and the two cannot be discussed separately. It's no secret that hundreds of non-state subject businessmen from the neighbouring states of J&K like Punjab and Himachal have been able to fraudulently obtain state subject certificates and have permanently settled in Jammu. They have opened their business outlets in many parts of Jammu region, particularly in the Jammu city, at the cost of local business houses," said an analyst.
According to the media reports that non-state subject businessmen are known to fund some political parties of J&K to keep them silent on the issue of state subject. "The beneficiaries of these non-local business houses purportedly include the PDP," the analyst added.
A Kashmir watcher said that Mehbooba is just "throwing tantrums" to blackmail New Delhi. "Otherwise she knows it very well that her party has played a pivotal role in settling the businessmen with political connections in Jammu city," he added.
He said that Mehbooba somehow wants to prove to New Delhi that her party is relevant and the people sitting in New Delhi should pay attention towards her. "The gimmicks she is indulging in are just aimed at seeking attention. When Mehbooba was in the power many cases of fake state subjects came to fore in Jammu but no attempt was made by her government to get these investigated," he added.
