Jammu, Sept 12: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu Madan Lal and supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Sunil Kumar, started Inter District Division Level Tennis Ball Cricket tournament for under 17 and 19 years boys and girls here at Sports Stadium Kathua.
A total of 36 players of three Districts viz. Samba Jammu and Kathua participated for under 17 years boy's Competitions on first day of the tournament. The opening match was played between Samba and host Kathua which was won by the later by 4 wickets.
The final match was played between Jammu and Kathua. Jammu opted for batting first by winning the toss. Jammu collected 83 runs in prescribed 15 hours with the loss of 9 wickets. Vidhan of Jammu made highest 16 runs in 18 balls. Gaurav of Kathua clinched two wickets in 2 overs by giving 9 runs.
Kathua achieved the target just in 9th over by 5 wickets. Gaurav of Kathua made 23 runs in 9 balls with two boundaries and two sixes and declared as man of the match. Today's matches were officiated why technical panel comprising of Avnesh Kumar, Mohan Lal, Kulbushan Singh, Sandeepan Sharma, Tarsem Sharma, Naresh Kumar. ZPEOs Rajesh Kumar, Pardeep Singh, Ganesh Dass, activity in-charge Kuldeep Singh, Rampaul, Sham Lal, Mohinder Paul, Jyoti Devi were also present on the occasion.
