'Self Aggrandizement' is 'Mool Mantra' of present dispensation
Jamwal Mahadeep Singh9/15/2018 10:39:02 PM
Self aggrandizement is defined as exaggerating one's own importance or power. An example of self aggrandizement is a candidate stretching the truth about his accomplishments to win the position. A debate is compulsory about present dispensation in this regard. Every human has four endowments - self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom, the power to choose, to respond, and to change. These words of Stephen Covey, an American educator, we have not conceived in right perception at the time people were looking for a change in the country in 2014 that brought only change of faces on power corridors and what we observe is 'self praise and condemn others', speak of very high of their achievements without any relief at the required level, make fool of the people by spending millions of tax payers money on publicity campaign and making video conferences with selective and well guided audience, as a measure to hypnotize the gentle citizenry.
When we look for the duties of the ruler and his sub-ordinate, as enshrined in our Vedic text 'Rig-Veda': "it is the duty of the ruler and his ministers that they provide full protection to the public so that they can live in fearless atmosphere. The politicians must make the arrangement so that public can get good education and provide them peace and pleasure, there must not be any poverty in the nation. The person who is not able to give protection to the nation, he should not be selected as a ruler". If society elects such political leaders, they will not experience the relief and bright future they wish for. He and his supporters create a dark future for everyone. Politicians then mislead people by saying they are providing a brighter and more secure future. It has been the misfortune of this country that the bona fide connotation of democracy has not been perfectly appreciated by average person as well as by the leaders. We cannot blame the common man because of their illiteracy but politicians always challenging to safeguard the sanctity of the democracy cannot be exonerated of it. Their conception of this terminology is incarcerated to blaming one another and operating like criminals in parliament/assemblies. How funny it looks that BJP led NDA government always claiming to be a party of principles and ethics, all time speaks of spoiling the country by previous rulers for the last 70 years, (even forgetting that during Vajpaee regime, BJP used to say "India shining') the period that concludes on 15 August 2017. The break up for 70 years comes out as: Congress - 54 years 123 days (Gandhi family 37 years 303 days and others 16 years 185 days), Janata Party - 2 years 296 days, Janata Dal - 2 years 269 days, Samajwadi Janata party - 223 days, Vajpayee led BJP - 6 years 77 days and Modi 3 years 76 days. As an aware person I do not fall in line with wrong version of Modi dispensation and believe all the period had remained as period of progress as well as scams and scandals also. None of the ruling party has ever remained as 'Dudh ki Dhule'. If the list of scams under Congress government is too long the BJP also not lacking behind in this race of corruption and scams. Here every political party must notice his masked faces, by looking into the mirror of realities through the public eyes. Those who claim of no development since last 70 years must realize and be fair to accept the following facts; in 1947, India was a massively poor bunch of 33 crore population with a literacy rate of a mere 12%. Despite being a large country, India had a total of only 25 Universities and 600 Colleges. In 2017, India has 800 Universities and 40,000 Colleges. Literacy rate has increased from 12% to 74% (per census 2011). In 1947, due to poor medical infrastructure, the average life expectancy was a mere 35 years whereas in 2017, the average life expectancy has doubled to 70 years. In 1947, India had inherited basic railway infrastructure from British but by 2017, India has developed it to become Asia's largest train network and world's 4th largest. India has achieved to become the world's 5th largest in Automobiles manufacturing after China, US, Japan and Germany. In 2017, India ranks 2nd largest in cement production after China and 10th largest in pharmaceuticals exports. In 1947, India was dependent on foreign aid for sustenance and growth whereas in 2017, India is world's 2nd largest producer of rice and wheat, world's largest producer of milk and is in top 5 for most fruits and vegetables. In 2017, India builds its own cars, two wheelers, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, electronics and industrial machinery. India has its own space program, satellites launching capability and a gigantic IT services industry. Due to tits large market, growing military strength, economic potential, and influence in international affairs, India is among the countries most cited as having the potential of achieving superpower status in the 21st century. All these achievements have not been obtained by India overnight or only by the vision of BJP but contribution of one and all those who remained ruling India after independence. But the present Modi dispensation is harping only on one line agenda and i.e. projects itself and blames everyone else and feel only idealized born with third eye and rest were blockheaded.
Come what may the most important aspect to be given weight age is that majority of India has not been able to rise above poverty line. India had 30% of its population living below poverty line. India stands at number 64 in the list of 189 poorest countries in 2016. India ranked 100 of the 119 countries in 2016 in Global Hunger Index. There are 1.77 million homeless people in India in 2017. On employment front more than 30% of India's youth not in employment, according to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) report 2017. More interesting it becomes when we find that for the last seventy years, several politicians have been claiming that they have come from a poor background, son of farmer, tea-sellers and from backward class etc. and on the said grounds they ask for votes and from such backgrounds they become monarchs and poor remains where it was. But such gentlemen once become ministers etc, they never look back towards the poor persons. When they assume musical chairs in the government they indulge in corruption and other vices and generate several problems in the country. That is why, for the last seventy years, even our main national corruption and other vices and generate several problems in the country. That is why, for the last seventy years, even our main national problems have not been solved.
India has over 4 lakh beggars that include 2.2 lakh males and 1.91 lakh females. We make laws to end up begging but we never make laws to utilize this workforce in the development of the country. Their services can be utilized in the field of sanitation. The huge amount being collected by the government as "Swachh Bharat Cess", as service tax on all the taxable services at the rate of 0.5% of the value of
Taxable service can be utilized for these beggars' livelihood rather than financing and promoting non productive schemes. More disturbing facts we encounter is the non-seriousness of all the governments about making commoner so aware as to take right decision in casting their vote for the deserving candidate. All political parties promote the 'divide and rule policy' based on castes, regions, religious exploitations, fake promises, commitments and voters easily trapped by these politicians, when the common man has to get to the streets and suffer through this only to get his voice heard. The fact that corruption has firmly penetrated through each and every aspect of the nation, how it is dealt by the government is a story that is spoken in the same way as even a common man talk about the corruption. All the governments till date speaks very high of stringent measures but dare not to bring measures like 'Lokpal' because of falling themselves in to this trap.
I down the curtain with my views that before a leader can affect the nation; he must take care of things locally, in his own domain. He must first curb whatever sufferings his own subjects and citizens endure. They are supporting him, and thus they should be the first to reap the rewards of proper leadership and government funding than to speak from every dais, that country has been looted by all previous governments for the last 70 years and he is the only savior, here advice of F. Scott Fitzgerald, an American writer, should be taken on board by the ruling coterie: "For what it's worth: it's never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you're proud of, and if you find you're not, I hope you have the strength to start over again."
