EarlyTimes Report
Kishtwar, Sept 17: Kishtwar police has seized a vehicle with a fake number plate and press logo, prompting the administration to sound an alert to various law enforcing agencies after the matter was brought into the notice of transport officials.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the Alto K10 vehicle with "JMUUBU 9644" number plate was found parked outside the Dak Bungalow chowk Kishtwar on Sunday. After seeing the number plate the people got suspicious and brought the matter into the notice of various media persons to ascertain the facts as the vehicle was also carrying the press logo.
As soon as the issue comes into the notice of "Early Times" the matter was taken up with Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar who confirmed to "Early Times" that the number plate was fake. It was learnt that the number was issued to an Enfield motorcycle registered on the name of Jai Krishan, son of Krishan Lal, a resident of Shiv Temple, Jammu.
Keeping in view sensitivity of the issue, the matter was brought into the notice of Kishtwar police, army and other law enforcing agencies.
After hectic efforts, the vehicle with the fake number plate was seized by Kishtwar police from outside District Police Office Kishtwar and on inquiry it was found that BJP Youth leader owns the said vehicle and it is yet to be registered with Transport Office after he purchased the vehicle in April 2017.
Speaking to "Early Times" SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Gupta confirmed the seizure of vehicle by the police. He said that the vehicle was seized after its owner failed to produce the requisite documents. He said that the vehicle owner used the temporary number on his vehicle which expired long back and in the meantime the Motor Vehicle Department issued the said number to some other vehicle.
Meanwhile National Conference and Congress party called for probe into the use of fake number plate by the BJP Youth leader from Kishtwar and said that sabotage on part of the ruling BJP ahead of upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections could not be ruled out. They said that it is a matter of concern that vehicle with fake number plate goes unnoticed and action was only initiated after local people noticed it and brought the matter into the notice of concern agencies.
Several media persons associated with various national and state media houses calleded upon the authorities to check the misuse of press logos on the vehicles in Chenab valley Viz Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
While showing his concern, the media persons called upon Director Information and IGP Traffic to draw a strategy with regard to issuance and use of press logos.
