Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Sept 18 : The substandard work executed by the Chenab Valley Power Private Limited, a joint venture of NHPC limited, JKSPDC & PTC Infra Limited was exposed after the Bailey Suspension Bridge Over River Chenab suffered damages within three years after inauguration.
As per the details available with "Early Times" CVPPP constructed around 350 feet Bailey bridge over river Chenab and spent crores of rupees on it to provide connectivity to the people living in and around the river Chenab, but within short span of time, the wooden planks used in the construction of the bridge suffered damages making it vulnerable to mishaps.
Speaking to "Early Times" Asif Ahanger said that CVPPP spent crores of rupees on the construction of this wooden bridge but to the disappointment of many people, it suffered damages in such short span of time. He said that CVPPP should immediately repair the bridge without any further delay. He called upon the authorities to order probe into the use of substandard material in the construction of the bridge.
Similar views were expressed by several other local people who also called for an independent inquiry and fixing of responsibility on the contractor as well as the management of the CVPPP who monitored the execution of the work of the bridge.
