ULB elections: Discontentment over BJP's list of candidates
Paratroopers get tickets, seniors ignored
9/21/2018 11:27:15 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 21: The first list of the candidates issued by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for Municipal elections- 2018 has generated lot of dissent, with party functionaries alleging corruption, nepotism in the distribution of tickets.
Some videos of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha office bearers have went online levelling serious allegations against former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta for giving tickets to some newcomers ignoring some seniors.
State Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha while lashing out at former Deputy Chief Minister alleged, "I have been in the party for the last over 15 years. Five days back, I called on Kavinder Gupta and he assured me the ticket but he is under pressure from RSS. One day back I again called on him and enquired about ticket and in return he asked me to organize a meeting. I booked a hall for Rs. 10,000. So much humiliation of a woman is unacceptable" she lamented.
She further claimed that the ticket for a ward in Channi Himmat has been given to a lady, who came to the locality just three months back and knew little bit about Channi Himmat. She threatened to commit suicide at BJP office, if Kavinder Gupta would not apologize to her.
She levelled these allegations outside the residential house of BJP state president Ravinder Raina. Moreover, few other Mahila Morcha leaders also visited the office and levelled serious allegations of corruption in distribution of tickets.
A woman leader alleged that a ticket was sold to a newcomer in the party, in her ward in lieu of several Lakhs. She was also accompanied with some other women leaders of BJP.
Allegations have also been levelled against party leaders for distributing tickets in other districts.
Pertinently, allegations were levelled against senior leaders of the BJP for favouring new comers and those who worked as per the wishes of the senior leaders while ignoring the deserving senior leaders.
