Govt accords sanction for prosecution of Hurriyat leader, 2 others in Kulgam

Srinagar, Sept 22: The state government has accorded sanction for launching prosecution under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against moderate Hurriyat Conference leader and two others in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.
According to an SRO issued here, Police Station Kulgam received an information that one Hurriyat activist namely Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with few supporters had arrived at village Shouch and is insisting the common people to continue the "self-styled struggle for separating the State of J&K from India and provoking to raise anti-Indian slogans etc."
A Case (FIR No. 22/2017) U/S 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 came to be registered in the Police Station, Kulgam and during the course of investigation, it came to fore that Mukhtar Ahmad Waza son of Gh Rasool Waza of KadiPora Gajnag Anantnag, Shabir Ahmad Nanwai son of Mohd Rafeeq of KadiPora Gajnag Anantnag and Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Ahsan of Brazloo Jageer Yaripora Kulgam were involved in the commission of offence punishable u/s 13 ULA(P) Act, 1967. Based on the facts and circumstances the investigation of the case was closed as challaned.
The Authority appointed by the State Government under sub-section (2) of section 45 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act independently scrutinized the Case Diary file and all the other relevant documents relating to the case and has come to a definite conclusion that this was a fit case for accord of prosecution sanction against the three accused persons for the commission of offence punishable under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
