Civic Bodies elections: BJP not to disclose names of Valley candidates before filing of nominations
9/22/2018 10:23:18 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 22: Unlike Jammu region, BJP today secretly handed over party tickets to candidates who are going to contest civic bodies election in Kashmir. State general secretary of party Ashok Koul along with another general secretary Sunil Sharma handed over mandates to candidates who were finalized for civic bodies elections across Kashmir Valley. Instead of revealing names of candidates who will contest these elections, BJP has decided to keep their names secret till filing of the nomination papers. September 25 is last date of filing of nomination papers and names of the candidates will be disclosed only on that day.
Credible sources said that meeting of party candidates were held secretly in different parts of Kashmir Valley to handover mandates to the candidates.
As reported in media, BJP had decided not to make public the names of its candidates from the Kashmir valley before filing of the nomination papers. The step has been taken in view of security threats to party leaders and candidates.
Instead of officially releasing the lists, the party has decided to silently handover the mandate to its candidates from the Valley, so as to maintain secrecy. Before handing over the mandate, candidates have been given strict directions against making public announcement.
